Buy Canadian
Now, more than ever, get to the farmers’ markets in BC and help them out. Buy something. Anything.

I want to thank Tod and Jocelyn for the community they have built! I believe we (I) have a better understanding of what being a Canadian means. I would like to see more of our First People's involved as the original people of this land we call Canada. They have made vast contributions.
Has anyone else noticed the sheer number of YouTube vids showing up that are AI generated nonsense about how evil Canadian food is?
I just watched part of one on butter that was just utter nonsense. Whoever put it together has zero concept of how Dairy farming in Canada works.
It was full of meaningless pseudoscience about organic vs fake butter - and didn't bother to differentiate between actual Canadian brands and imported ones
And I'm pretty sure there are a few Co-Ops that would be stunned to learn they get their milk from a pool of 15,000 farms
Oh and milk that is from cows that spend less that 200 days per year grazing in open grasslands is impure and poor quality
The Food is Poison crew have gone full tilt wacko
Unless you're buying NoName butter (which isn't made from Canadian milk) you're probably okay not buying "Superior" butter, imported from Ireland, at $10/250g
I'm am Alberta-based writer currently recruiting Canadians who have a story to tell! Or, who have no idea what to say, but want to leave a legacy for future generations. I'm applying for an arts council grant and need 10 more participants. No cost to you, and no writing experience necessary. Just be willing to be interviewed by me and help edit your story once it's complete. For more info, drop a comment here and I'll reach out.
Going to Winnipeg tomorrow for the first time.
What would you recommend seeing AND what local (non chain) restaurants would you recommend for breakfast or lunch?
What an amazing book - it's about a tradwife influencer who seems to have time-traveled back to the 1850s and it will have you captivated right until the very last word.
If I can volunteer for the evacuation telephone line I will. My heart goes out to people in Peachland and Summerland. https://youtu.be/-4BPKKH28uw?si=widwnfqs-L-5SrRL
Police drama set in Toronto. Don Gilmour
I have been “fortunate” enough to have to visit my local ER twice in the last 3 months. The first visit was 24 hours long and yesterday was 13 hours. I also teach in the college system, so I am seeing the effects of the cuts to both systems that Doug Ford is exacerbating. Time to take the decisions for funding for both sectors away from the lunatic In charge in Ontario.
A way to support the helpers.

I had been buying Hill's Science Diet cat food, but decided to look into Canadian brands that were also high quality. (
Royal Cannin is a well known one
Arcana and it's sister brand Orijen are also high Quality Canadian brands. This is what I feed my cat.
Blue Buffalo. Go! Solutions and Performative are a few others.
Also, Pet value is a Canadian company; PetSmart Is American.
Carney is a CENTRAL banker. That means he gets the world-wide picture. While his FIRST priority is to protect Canadians, he is NOT interested in a total, global financial collapse. He has been racing against time to situate Canada as best as he could before the eminent Global collapse of US dollar. Just about every nation on the planet will be affected —so much investment in the US Treasury —you can’t sell bonds when everyone is trying to do the same! Carney is NOT interested in being party to this mess. By making some concessions to the US trade problems (IMHO), he is buying a little more time before the poo hits the fan. Yes, propping up the US a bit—but also looking at the very real and bigger problem of global finance and the tapestry of the petrodollar.
How very Canadian — capable of strong defense, but not looking to be a destroyer.
For the provinces that have banned American booze, if it comes back to the shelves, do you buy it?
I have a friend from Texas who would love to move here, but we can't find information on if you need this specialty. Any suggestions on where to get that info? TIA
It's thirty-nine degrees outside
The humidity is back building (-thunder is rolling in the distance
So what did I make for supper?
Chicken corn chowder
(— I grilled the corn and the chicken outside, so it's ...summerish?)
What was happening in the kitchen while I was making chowder on this lovely summer day?
My son was making pickles
I have a heatpump
...but I'm not looking forward to my next Hydro bill 🤷
Canada added 75K jobs in July, meanwhile the US lost 23K .. I'm totally gloating ..😄
Wonderfully written mysteries in BC taking place after WWII. Delightful and intelligent.
Found watermelon grown in Ontario at our No Frills store. It didn’t disappoint. Top quality. My husband and I ate the entire melon in a day. Heading out for another one.
TODAY IN CANADA: Today in 1927, the Peace Bridge over the Niagara River between the US and Canada was dedicated to commemorate 100 years of peace between the two countries.
🚧YOUR SAY: Would you support a bridge between our two countries being erected and named "Peace Bridge" today?
I'm looking for a job on the medical field, as a medical secretary or similar.
I keep seeing jobs in the healthcare field for nurses to get sponsored to move to the US. I think re rioters are getting desperate, as healthcare professionals are leaving the U.S to come here. (Thanks in big part to Tod's healthcare infusion movement)
So, yeah. Hard pass on that!
I was reading all the new posts at the Clubhouse this morning and it struck me again - this is the first time in my history that I remember, that Canadian citizens ourselves had such a collective voice. We always did but we are making real change. The world has stepped up and taken notice of us. Real proud moment.
