Many moons ago I moved to Edmonton, Canada with my Mum. I was only able to stay for years because, at the time, University in England was free and for me to stay in Edmonton my step-dad was going to have to run two jobs and he worked hard enough.

I took thirty years before we could afford to, and had the job opportunities, move to Canada. We chose Newfoundland as our friends had moved here a few years before and it just so happened that my hubby had project based there.

5 years on and this place has my heart. The people are so friendly and welcoming and I love it here. Edmonton was a great place to be a teen, but to either raise a family or midlife, this is the place to be. However, my 21 year old daughter didn't like it and eventually went back to England.

What I am looking for is suggestions that would make it fabulous for teens to early 20's. What is it that this age group need to find a place that you want to stay? How do you attract this age group? We have a great university, where I work, so I'm a little biased. How do we attract young people to come here from elsewhere in Canada?

Never planned it but happen to be here during world pride in Amsterdam. We’re having a wonderful time even in the crowds. Lots of free music DJ events in the streets - heading to a park to listen to a concert-didn’t get tickets but planning a picnic on the lawn outside the concert

Hi! My amazing tenant and her amazing golden retriever just moved out after 5 years. I had a thought- that instead of posting my ground level suite on kijiji I would check out if I could help house any healthcare workers temporarily or more permanently? I’ve been following Tod and the movement for a while, and It’s just so great.

Ground level suite with family of 5 upstairs. Dog friendly, small private yard, one bedroom and in suite laundry. Private parking in driveway for one car. Suite is registered with the city of Nanaimo.

I've seen this done in the U.S. Such an easy way for those who are economically comfortable to give something small that really adds up over time.

The French Islands of St. Pierre/ Miquelon are located off the south coast of Newfoundland. They offer a unique taste of French life and lifestyle without leaving North America. Some hints though

- travel there between Monday -Friday. Avoid weekends as most stores/services are closed on weekends.

• - most stores close from 12:00-1:30 for lunch.

• - book your restaurants well in advance of your travel (a month or more). Seating is almost impossible without a reservation, especially for evening meals.

• - evening meals generally begin at 7pm. Don’t arrive early. Restaurants will often not allow entry to early arrivers.

• - baguettes and pastries are best purchased between 6:30-9:00am. After that, they are quickly sold out

• - shopping is limited and often hard to find. Best hours for shopping are 2-6pm.

• - walking is better than bringing your car. Specific car insurance is required. Most NA carries don’t offer it, but it can be purchased once you arrive. But it is expensive!!!

But the islands are definitely worth checking out.

When finance experts are telling people to bail out of US stocks, banking, and investments its some serious sh¡t. The dominance of the USA has been compromised and I fear it will never be the same. I've never been more proud - and more relieved - to be Canadian!

Saying hello from the excessive dry heat of the foothills of Sierra Nevada mountains. Thankfully I also stay on SF Bay (sailboat) and get cooled off; possibly the only cool spot on the continent in Summers.
I want to add that I miss living in Vancouver, staying with friends in Nanaimo, and my one year on Galiano Island where I worked at an eclectic and amazing tiny film school. Being priced out of returning to live in Vancouver brings me the sads. At least I'll be back for my annual visit soon.

Hello! I’m a thirteenth generation Mainer, only a few generations removed from my Canadian ancestors on one side, and a couple of generations removed from my fully indigenous ancestors on the other. But I’m just a run of the mill United Statesian (my daughter doesn’t approve of our appropriation of the word American, as though we don’t share the continent)

My first visit to Canada, in 1988, was on a winter day spent running around New Hampshire with my brand-new husband, sister, niece, and a good friend. We ran around so much that we unexpectedly bumped into the Canadian border. Does anyone remember when we were just neighbors and didn’t have to present passports and obtain permission to visit one another? As a citizen of the only contiguous U.S. state whose entire upper half is already geographically inside Canada, I very much miss that.

Since that stumble across the border, my family and I have visited Nova Scotia, PEI, and Quebec many times. In fact, when my 15 year old nephew got his first passport a few months ago, I told him to pack a bag, and we ran on up to Old Quebec City (they’re very proud of their castle!). We had crepes for breakfast and poutine for lunch.

I’m currently exploring the possibility of my two adult childrens’ being Canadian citizens. Considering the extent of my son’s French is “Il fait bon,” he might not want to rush into settling in Quebec.

So that’s me! It’s been great to find you, Tod. After your video determining which states shall be admitted into the union, I had to find more. I’m happy to follow where it’s taken me.

I lived on the Island for 22 years, the best years of my life. I moved back to Ontario after my husband died and all I managed to accomplish was to break my heart all over again. I can't imagine anyone not loving the Island. Take a trip and check it out.

I really enjoy these books and feel the author has a brilliant sense of humour as well prescience. Somewhere in the future there is a break between America and Canada and people are having to try and smuggle themselves out of America via the Canadian Corridor, a very dangerous way to travel.

I'm a crusty ole RN and beekeeper, consisering applying for a canadian license.I realize BC is no panacea, but the gentle and humerous Nanaimo nudge on socials got me curious about whether VI is even a place I'd enjoy being.

Cue roadtrip from Austin up hwy 1 (Calkfornia coast) and ultimately to Vancouver...VI...Gabriola 🩷...and Uclulet ( happened upon Ukee days, no less!...dancing in the rain with locals) ...what a sacred and magical place and community 🙏🏽.

I'm intrigued. At tbe very least it was a healing and humbling time. THANK YOU.

Interested in learning more. But don't want to waste anyone's time if it's not logistically possible.

Thoughts? ... how do we protect these sacred and vital places for their future and our planet?... how do we respect the people and generations that came before?

Never in 1 million years would I have thought I would consider leaving Texas. If I stay, I'll likely run for Office. But I'm so tired of the martyrdom...fine line between martyrdom and a heart for Service...

I know things are NOT perfect in BC.. specifically, safer supply is concerning. I'm all for Harm reduction, but in my personal (un researched, biased) opinion, safer supply is a slippery slippery slope that may have ripple effects for generations to come. But there's so much GOOD within this and other community programs.

Every. Single. Person has value and is worthy of care and respect whether we understand them or not.

I’m living in FL and would love suggestions for year-round blooming plants.

I’ve started avocado trees and ginger from grocery store food purchases. (Have a Hass avocado that finally got a foot growing/ on my kitchen window sill). Started the ginger the same way and after 5 years I’ve discovered it is invasive. White blooms on upright stalks are gorgeous.

As a senior with important doctor & dental care in place AND being 80+…it seems like moral support and annual vacation trips are the best I can do to support Canadians. But my heart is with you.❤
