It’s Not Wrong; It’s Just Different
The French Islands of St. Pierre/ Miquelon are located off the south coast of Newfoundland. They offer a unique taste of French life and lifestyle without leaving North America. Some hints though
- travel there between Monday -Friday. Avoid weekends as most stores/services are closed on weekends.
- most stores close from 12:00-1:30 for lunch.
- book your restaurants well in advance of your travel (a month or more). Seating is almost impossible without a reservation, especially for evening meals.
- evening meals generally begin at 7pm. Don’t arrive early. Restaurants will often not allow entry to early arrivers.
- baguettes and pastries are best purchased between 6:30-9:00am. After that, they are quickly sold out
- shopping is limited and often hard to find. Best hours for shopping are 2-6pm.
- walking is better than bringing your car. Specific car insurance is required. Most NA carries don’t offer it, but it can be purchased once you arrive. But it is expensive!!!
But the islands are definitely worth checking out.
